I'm now in chat with a CS representative at the contact center in the Philippines. My printer appears to have died under warranty. This is what I've just been informed of:
11:47:37 AM | ![]() | Marlyn_David | Thank you for the detailed information. We need to replace the printer to resolve this issue. |
11:47:52 AM | ![]() | Marlyn_David | Name, before we can proceed with the dispatch. Dell has a new policy in which we would need you to take a picture of your Service Request number, Name, Date and Time today (written on a piece of paper) beside the Service Tag found at the rear part of the printer, we will need you to take the picture on the actual printer. |
I'm incredulous, but that's just me. I've never (ever) been asked to do this nor heard of any policy like this. What gives, Dell?
My initial reaction is that is increases the cost of any Dell product beyond any competitor, so based on cost, I can't imagine buying another Dell product.
