Occasionally I'll notice my laptop fan becomes really loud. When I look in task manager on my computer I'll always find that the Dell Printer Status Watcher is taking up a very large percentage of the CPU time. If I kill the process from task manager the CPU load goes back to normal and then fan slows down.
There seems to be a bug in this program. It shouldn't take this much CPU time just to monitor the printer. I'm not sure what this application does. Can I just disable it? If I look at the properties of the DLDPHSTS.exe binary it says version 2.0.0.25.
If there is an update to this program that fixes the bug please let me know exactly what I should install to fix it. The printer is working well now so I don't want to break it. The Dell software is really confusing so I'm not sure exactly what I need to update (If I type "dell" in the start menu I see Dell Printer Hub and Dell Document Hub, I'm not sure what the difference is between these or which one would need to be updated).
I see a similar question on the German language Dell support forum, but the discussion is in German so I can't read exactly what it says. It seems that the suggestion was to uninstall the current software and install an app from the Windows store. I seem to already have this app installed on my computer.
My printer is the E525w.
